Damen Shipyards awarded to build Modular Dock for the Port of Djibouti

Damen Shipyards takes great pleasure in the fact that a Damen Modular Dock (DMD) 4020 is being constructed for - and will be delivered to - Djibouti. Djibouti’s busy port is one of the most important gateways to the African continent and is strategically located at the confluence of the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. Besides maintenance of the Port Authorities’ own fleet, the dock will be used for repair and maintenance of port-calling vessels.

Huisman successfully delivers 600mt crane GeoSea “Neptune”

Huisman, the specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, successfully delivered the 600mt Wind Turbine Installation Crane onboard GeoSea’s DP2 jack-up vessel “Neptune”. The crane was handed over to the builder of the vessel IHC Offshore and Marine BV, part of IHC Merwede, who subcontracted the crane to Huisman in 2010.

Eekels relaunches MarPower from Exendis

On 27 October 2011 the company called Exendis was put into liquidation. Exendis designed and developed converters for clients worldwide in the mobility, infrastructure, defence, renewable energy and agriculture markets. Alfen bv in Almere, a sister company of Eekels within the TBI concern, acquired a number of activities from Exendis after the company had gone into liquidation. Alfen took over products, employees and the intellectual property of products used in the rail market, defence, luxury yacht building and fast charge technology for electric cars. Eekels, for its part, acquired the luxury yachting activities from Alfen. More specifically, the shore converter and the energy storage converter systems, marketed using the brand name of MarPower.

Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel for Angola launched at Damen Shipyards Galati

Damen Shipyards Galati is building the Ngola Kiluange, a Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel (FISV) 6210, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. With another two ships under construction, the Angolan government is set to strengthen its knowledge of and control over its rich fishing grounds.
