  • A tough job on the Vigilant

    In the opening months of 2012, Shipdock Harlingen was commissioned for an interesting and difficult job by Tranship BV from the Netherlands. While thermometers dropped to far below zero and the whole world was nervously anticipating whether the most prestigious Dutch skating marathon, the Elfstedentocht (11-city-tour), would take place - Shipdock’s staff in Harlingen, one of the cities the marathon would pass through, had other things on their minds!
  • New trailing suction hopper dredger for Royal Boskalis Westminster NV built by Shipkits BV

    In presence of Mr. Ing. T.L. Baartmans (member of the board of directors), Mr. J.J.A. Alewijn (director newbuilding) both from Royal Boskalis Westminster nv, Mr. W. den Herder ( D.W. den Herder Maritiem B.V.), Mr. J. Koopmans (President & CEO C.I.G. NV) and Mr. R Kleiverda (Managing Director Shipkits BV) a new contract for a 4500 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger has been signed at the head office of Central Industry Group NV for its subsidiary Shipkits BV. This hopper dredger, the second in this size, will be built at Shipkits’ yard in Stettin, Poland.
  • Imtech Marine and Radio Zeeland standing strong together

    A contract signed in Rotterdam on 20 April means that Imtech Marine (Radio Holland Netherlands) will continue to be the (exclusive) distributor of Radio Zeeland products in the inland navigation market for the next five years. The Sigma Line and Falcon Line navigation packages are high-quality products and, because of the new contract, will be supplied with a longer guarantee, enhancing their reliability even more. The companies will present themselves at the Shipping & Construction 2012 exhibition via a joint stand, showcasing the prototype of the unique new Furuno river radar and other innovations.
  • Bremen Fire-brigade and Police take delivery of Damen Fire Fighting Vessel

    Damen Shipyards has recently delivered the ‘Bremen 1’ to the City of Bremen (Germany) to replace its 1975-built predecessor. Both the local police force and the fire brigade will use the Damen Fire Fighting Vessel 2406 (FFV) for emergency response. The police will patrol the Port of Bremen and the Weser River with the newbuild.

  • The world's first hybrid ferries with Voith Schneider Propeller
    03 May 2012
    In summer 2013, the world's first two ferries with a hybrid propulsion system will be put into service. Owned by CMAL, they are being built by Ferguson Shipbuilders in Glasgow. Each of the hybrid vessels will be equipped with two Voith Schneider Propellers (VSP) with an input power of 375 kW per propeller. With its hybrid concept, the shipyard aims to reduce the ferry's CO2 emissions by up to 20 percent.

  • Imtech Marine completes three high-tech offshore ships in Singapore

    Recently Imtech Marine, specialized in system integration, successfully completed three innovative new-build vessel projects in Singapore; Seven Borealis for Subsea 7, Rockpiper for a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV and Flintstone for Tideway, part of the DEME Group. The ships will all operate in the oil and gas market. Imtech Marine has combined specific capabilities of its offices in Rotterdam, Shanghai and Singapore. The supply package for two of the three ships includes advanced dynamic positioning (DP), diesel electric propulsion, vessel management (VMS), automation, navigation and communication. The design and engineering was done in Rotterdam, production in Shanghai and installation & commissioning by the Imtech Marine team in Singapore.
  • T.O.S. delivers new build rotor tugs SMIT KIWI and SMIT EMOE

    Last weekend the T.O.S. crew reached the port of destination Antwerp for the delivery of the SMIT KIWI and SMIT EMOE. The crew left the port of Singapore for a 12.700 nm journey to Western Europe last year. “We are proud to have been awarded for the delivery contract of the rotor tugs. Although T.O.S. personnel has been working on rotor tugs for harbour towing activities in Rotterdam for many years, this is our first rotor driven ship delivery”, says Rolf Kievits, Commercial Manager at T.O.S.
  • Allseas awards Huisman a contract for an 850mt Offshore Mast Crane

    Huisman, the specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has secured a new contract from Allseas for the design and manufacturing of an 850mt Offshore Mast Crane. The crane will replace the current 300mt Offshore Mast Crane onboard Allseas’ pipelaying vessel “Solitaire”. The delivery is scheduled for 1 October 2012 at the Huisman production facility in Fujian, China.

  • EDT Offshore takes delivery of two Damen Fast Crew Suppliers

    EDT Offshore (Cyprus), an operations and management company for offshore support and dredging services, has taken delivery of a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 3507 and an FCS 5009: the ‘EDT Leda’ and the ´EDT Nefeli´. Both are built according to the Damen Sea Axe design that reduces slamming up to 75% and increases crew comfort. The EDT Nefeli is outfitted with DP1, FiFi 1 and a luxury interior for a high level of passenger comfort during longer trips.
  • Damen Shipyards delivers three identical ASD 2810 tugs to KOTUG

    KOTUG will shortly be putting three Damen ASD 2810 tugs into operation. These tugs were ordered by Elizabeth Ltd in Malta and are being chartered by KOTUG, both part of the Kooren Maritime Services Group (KMS). Two tugs are being used in the port of Rotterdam and the third will see service in the port of Hamburg. It’s the first time that Damen Shipyards has built tugs for the KMS Group.
  • Succesfull launch of Martini Scan

    On Friday the 30th of March Yard number 904 the “MARTINI SCAN” has been launched at Peters Shipyards in Kampen. The spectacular ceremony was followed as usual by a large number of spectators. The “MARTINI SCAN” is the fourth vessel in the Sole 10.000 series and another two sister vessels are currently on order. Delivery of the “MARTINI SCAN” is scheduled in the second quarter of this year.

    On 22nd March, Imtech Marine received the Netherlands Turkey Trade Award 2012. The award was handed over to Terry van Velzen, Business development director of Imtech Marine, by the Turkish Ambassador, His Excellency Ugur Dogan in the city hall of Rotterdam. About 230 persons attended the award ceremony. The award is granted every two years, to a company or person who has remarkably contributed to the trade and/or investment relation between Holland and Turkey. The award grant co-incides with the celebration of 400 years of diplomatic relationships between Holland and Turkey.

    Amarcon announces yet another OCTOPUS-Onboard installation for a vessel operated by the Dutch heavy cargo transporter Dockwise. In December 2011 Dockwise announced to act as manager of the Chinese Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC's) semi submersible HYSY 278 new build 50000 DWT vessel for all third party projects.
  • First Damen Fast Crew Supplier built in Ecuador

    For the first time, a Damen Fast Crew Supplier 1605 will be built in Ecuador by Astilleros Navales Ecuatorianos (ASTINAVE) Shipyard. Damen is supplying the complete, prefabricated Shipbuilding Material Package Kit to ASTINAVE. The yard’s technical staff are responsible for the construction, together with Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC). The DTC concept enables customers to build Damen vessels of their choice locally, according to specific requirements.
  • Imtech Marine signs global contracts for VSAT and TVRO

    Imtech Marine has recently signed Global Distribution and Service agreements for satellite communication (VSAT) and satellite TV (TVRO) products with three prominent manufacturers. Via its company Radio Holland, Imtech Marine already had (long) relationships with Intellian, Jotron and Thrane & Thrane, which are now extended for VSAT and TVRO. All Imtech Marine branches (80 around the world) will supply, install, commission and service the systems and arrange airtime.

  • Damen Marine Components develops single weld Nozzle Spinning Method

    Damen Marine Components (DMC) has developed a pioneering nozzle production method bases on a single weld seam on the inner side of the nozzle. This makes the process much more efficient and environmentally friendly. The new Nozzle Spinning Machine can deliver nozzles up to 4.5 m at short notice.

    The Tonisi, the last tug of a range of 21 tugs, arrived after a journey of 9.700 sea-miles in Balboa, Panama, on February 29th. Also the new building double hull bunker tanker Anatoma arrived in Sydney, Australia on February 26th.
  • Damen Shipyards and Afai Southern Shipyard contracted to build 35 m ferry for Liuzhou Yinliu Hotel Management

    Liuzhou Yinliu Hotel Management Co. Ltd. (China) has ordered a Damen Ferry 3508 with Afai Southern Shipyard (China). The DFe 3508 is a 35m Aluminium Luxury Sightseeing Ferry and is designated for the municipal government of Guangxi Liuzhou. As Liuzhou is the main business port of the Guangxi Zhuang region, the city will use the ferry for receiving both government and industry representatives for official meetings and sightseeing tours along the Liujiang River. Delivery is scheduled in the first quarter of 2013.
  • IHC Merwede secures orders worth €450million for three pipelaying vessels

    IHC Offshore & Marine, part of IHC Merwede, and SapuraCrest have signed two contracts for the design, engineering and construction of two new 550t pipelaying vessels. A third contract has been signed with OSX Construção Naval S.A. Brazil for the design and engineering of a 300t pipelaying vessel, as well as a large equipment package supplied by IHC Engineering Business, among others. The orders have a total value of €450million.
  • Damen Stan Tugs 2608 commence duty in Moroccan ports

    Recently, two Damen Stan Tugs 2608, the Ibrahim 1 and the Jacques, were shipped from the anchorage of Halong Bay, Haiphong (Vietnam) to Casablanca by the Atlantic Winter, an 800t lifting capacity HLV chartered by Danish Heavy Lift carrier Thorco from Reederei Heino Winter.

  • New Regional Director Sytze Voulon appointed for Imtech Marine North West Europe

    As per February 20, 2012 Imtech Marine has appointed Mr. Sytze Voulon to the position of Regional Director North West Europe (Rotterdam). Mr. Voulon (47) has held several senior management positions in the international maritime industry. He started, after his studies of maritime business at the HTS in Rotterdam, at Mobil Oil in The Netherlands. After Mobil Oil he worked for amongst others Stork, Lips and Rolls-Royce. From 2001, Mr. Voulon worked for Rolls-Royce and held several senior management positions, the most recent being Regional Director - Marine Europe till 2008 and Regional Director Marine Europe & Africa / Vice President Services Europe & Africa.

  • Oceanco Launches 88.5m Superyacht

    The latest superyacht to make the World's Top 100 list was launched on January 29th by Oceanco in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Australian-based Sam Sorgiovanni Designs is credited with exterior styling and interior design of the yard-coded Y707. The vessel boasts a length of 88.5 m and a beam of 14.2 m. Much effort went into accommodating all of the owner's requirements without any sacrifice to the sleek profile. The contemporary interior features eucalyptus wood, teak and white onyx interspersed with natural materials, fabrics and colours.
  • Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel for Angola launched at Damen Shipyards Galati

    Damen Shipyards Galati is building the Ngola Kiluange, a Fishery Inspection Surveillance Vessel (FISV) 6210, for the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries. With another two ships under construction, the Angolan government is set to strengthen its knowledge of and control over its rich fishing grounds.
  • VOSTA LMG delivers three CSD’s 450 in Bangladesh

    The VOSTA LMG – Karnafuly joint venture consortium ltd. delivered three high quality Cutter Suction Dredgers 450 to Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA). On Wednesday the 18th of January the vessels were inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
  • Damen Shipyards receives three orders for five pontoons

    Damen Pontoons & Barges signed three contracts for a total of five purpose-built Damen Stan Pontoons (SPo): two Damen Stan Pontoons 6511 for Mammoet Maritime (The Netherlands), two Stan Pontoons 8916 ICE for Silverburn Shipping (I.O.M.) Ltd (UK) and one SPo 4113 for Rhumb Maritime (Australia). Delivery of the pontoons will take place between March and September 2012.
  • MarineCo UK orders another two offshore wind High Speed Support Vessels with Damen Shipyards

    Scottish offshore service provider MarineCo UK has placed an order at Damen Shipyards for two more High Speed Support Vessels (HSSVs). Since taking delivery of Damen’s first-ever HSSV 2610 Twin Axe in June and the second one in the last week of December, the MarineCo Shamal and MarineCo Mariah have shown striking performance when working on offshore wind farms, according to Managing Director Mike Conafray. “I truly believe that this vessel will become the mainstay of the wind farm industry in the years to come. It is the best boat in generations!”
  • Venezuelan Aquatic Authority INEA orders three Damen tugs

    Damen Shipyards will shortly deliver three tugboats to INEA (Instituto Nacional de los Espacios Acuaticos, the Venezuelan Aquatic Authority). This repeat-order follows a previous order for two Damen Stan Tugs purchased by INEA in 2009. The tugs will be used in the Venezuelan ports of Puerto Cabello and La Guaira, and are meant to give assistance to the ships entering and leaving the harbor.
  • MeteoGroup Offshore awarded framework agreement by Royal Boskalis Westminster NV

    Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has awarded MeteoGroup Offshore a framework agreement to supply metocean services to its fleet of 1,500 vessels. The framework contract, which began on 1st October 2011, includes the installation of the world’s leading onboard weather routing system, SPOS Onboard (Ship Performance Optimisation System) for a large part of the fleet.
  • 70-ton tug for the port of Haifa

    The port of Haifa is one of the largest ports in Israel and a key hub for trade in the Eastern Mediterranean. The port handles over 20 million tons of goods a year. With their precise maneuverability, four Voith Water Tractors ensure safe berthing of the container ships. On November, the tug fleet was enlarged by another Voith Water Tractor. With a bollard pull of 70 tons, the "Ilan" stands out from all other vessels.
  • Cummins to introduce QSK95 marine engine with 4000 horsepower

    Cummins Inc. , a leading manufacturer of diesel engines for the commercial marine industry, will introduce the new QSK95 engine with 4000 hp (2983 kW) output as the most powerful high-speed diesel configured for marine propulsion and auxiliary generator sets. The 95-liter, 16-cylinder engine, revealed today at the Seymour Engine Plant, is designed ready to meet EPA Tier 4 low-emissions regulations taking effect in 2014.
  • EISA orders Winteb again

    Winteb has received an order from the Brazilian EISA yard based in Rio de Janeiro. The order is for the supply of the WIN2000 air pipe heads for two PSV OSRV, hull 519 & 520. Winteb will supply the WIN2000 type air pipe heads.
  • Imtech Marine and Seaway Heavy Lifting conclude Advanced Support Agreements

    Imtech Marine’s Advanced Support Agreements, which include 24/7 remote Monitoring & Maintenance, are raising interest among ship owners. Recently, Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) signed a support contract for a second crane vessel. The Imtech Marine support agreement covers all of the systems onboard, including VSAT, computers, navigation and communication equipment.

Ship repair and conversion yards are now challenged to keep installation costs as low as possible for their clients.

  • IMO grants Final Approval to Siemens ballast water-management system

    The Maritime Environmental Protection Committee of the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization (IMO) has granted Siemens Final Approval for its Sicure ballast water management system. The Final Approval is based on a directive issued by the IMO, a specialized agency of the United Nations, which requires all deep-sea vessels to operate IMO-approved ballast water management systems. The objective is to avoid the spread of alien aquatic organisms and pathogens carried in untreated ballast water. The IMO directive will come into force in the near future and will entail retrofitting approximately 68,000 seagoing vessels worldwide.

  • First order for Damen Shiprepair Brest

    On Wednesday 11th April 2012, Director André Hollander and Sales Manager Theo Kloosterman proudly announced the first shiprepair order of Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) by sounding the bell in the traditional way. It is the first vessel is booked under the new management and comes in the second week after the acquisition of the former Sobrena Yard in Brest by the Damen Shipyards Group.
  • Transfer of the third Holland class patrol vessel "Friesland" for the Royal Netherlands Navy

    On Wednesday 11 April, in Harlingen the third of four Holland Class Oceangoing Patrol Vessels, “Friesland” built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding for the Royal Netherlands Navy, was transferred to the Defence Materiel Organization of the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands.

    After delivery the Friesland will directly start an extensive testing and work-up program, yet without the Thales Integrated Mast Module (IMM), which will be installed early 2014.

  • Damen delivers ASD Tug 3213 with 85 t BP to INTERTUG

    Damen Shipyards has delivered the ASD 3213 ‘Tanok’ to Colombian tug operator Intertug S.A. Intertug (est. 1993) operates the country’s most modern tug fleet in terms of horsepower and fleet age. The Damen ASD 3213 has a bollard pull of 86.5 t and 80 t astern and is one of the most powerful harbour tugs in the world. In addition, Intertug ordered an ASD 3212 that will be delivered from Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania) end of May 2012.

The River Discovery II is the first in a series of four cruise ships that Shipyard De Hoop is building for US tour operator Vantage Deluxe World Travel.
  • Damen Shipyards delivers Stan Tug 1205 to UK recycling and construction company S. Walsh & Sons

    Last week the Damen Stan Tug 1205 ‘SWS Essex’ was delivered to the Walsh & Sons Head Office in Brentwood (UK). Walsh ordered the Stan Tug as part of their strategy to transport more cargo by water than by road. In the near future, the total transport capacity of Walsh’s lorry fleet will be exceeded by tug and barge transport.

    On 10 March 2012, after successful sea trials and finishing of outfitting details, SIGMA Class Frigate, Sultan Moulay Ismail, built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) in Vlissingen, was transferred to the Royal Moroccan Navy. The ship was delivered, on schedule and meeting all the requirements as stated in the contract, to the full satisfaction of the customer.

As from November 2011 Rotor®Tug RT Adriaan, operating in the Port of Rotterdam, has been retrofitted with a XeroPoint Hybrid Propulsion System of AKA Canada. As from March, 6th 2012, the conversion is completed and RT Adriaan rejoined the KOTUG fleet like an E-KOTUG and is optimizing its hybrid modes. E-KOTUG RT Adriaan will officially be launched in April/May 2012.
  • Van der Velden supplier of rudder system on CoTuNav’s new RoPax

    Van der Velden Marine Systems delivered two Timon rudders for Tanit, the new RoPax ferry of la Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation (CoTuNav). Tunisia’s state owned ferry company CoTuNav has chosen the Korean shipyard DMSE to build this new RoPax cruise ferry, which will be one of the biggest ferries in the Mediterranean when delivered in May 2012. What’s more, with a maximum speed of 30 knots, it will also be one of the fastest sailing ferries in the world.
  • Kraaijeveld delivers two special winches to Dockwise

    At the beginning of March, two special Kraaijeveld windlasses arrived in time in Korea. The winches are intended for the Dockwise Vanguard, a semi-submersible heavy vessel which is going to be built for the Dutch company Dockwise. In itself nothing special, except that the winches are quite substantial in size and will get a special position in the Dockwise Vanguard. Kees Kraaijeveld, general manager at Machine- en Lierenfabriek C. Kraaijeveld in Sliedrecht, says: "In one way or another the winches nowadays are getting bigger, more customized and more complicated as well."

    On 28th February, Rudy Demotte, Prime minister of Wallonia, visited the Netherlands. During a busy programme, the Wallonian head of state met with Hans Smits from the Port of Rotterdam and Mayor of Rotterdam, Aboutaleb, and was later received at the Catshuis by Prime minister Mark Rutte. Awex, the Wallonian agency for export and foreign investments, jointly helped to organise the visit.

Under the new strategy, the long-established Swedish shipyard Götaverken Cityvarvet is now changing its name to Damen Shiprepair Götaverken. Since 2000, the company has been part of the global Damen Shipyards Group, which is based in the Netherlands and has a turnover of 1.3 billion euro.

    Argentinian towage and harbour company Remolcadores Unidos Argentinos (RUA) has just taken delivery of the ‘RUA Cap. Lucio R’, a Damen ASD 2810 tug. Although Damen’s tugs have operated in Argentina before, this vessel is the first time a Damen tug is owned by an Argentinian company.
  • Voith announces the first Voith Linear Jet order

    Voith is pleased to announce the first Voith Linear Jet order with Turbine Transfers UK for a 19 meter BMT Nigel Gee designed Wind Support Vessel. The Voith Linear Jet will provide for this application a substantial higher bollard pull without a requirement for increased installed power. This higher bollard pull will allow Turbine Transfers the safe transfer of personnel up to higher seastates. Turbine Transfers - a wholly owned subsidiary of Holyhead Towing Company - currently operates a fleet of over 20 fast catamarans that transport personnel and equipment to and from offshore wind turbines. It's long term customers include Siemens, RWE npower, Van Oord, Dong Energy, EnBW and Royal Boskalis Westminster.

  • Huisman successfully delivers 600mt crane GeoSea “Neptune”

    Huisman, the specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, successfully delivered the 600mt Wind Turbine Installation Crane onboard GeoSea’s DP2 jack-up vessel “Neptune”. The crane was handed over to the builder of the vessel IHC Offshore and Marine BV, part of IHC Merwede, who subcontracted the crane to Huisman in 2010.
  • Alfa Laval signs contract with Spliethoff for largest fully integrated scrubber system

    Alfa Laval, a major equipment supplier to the marine industry, has signed a contract with Spliethoff, a leading player in the transport market. It covers the retrofit of a multiple inlet PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning system on board one of Spliethoff’s vessels which operates mainly in the North European ECA area. It is the first order received by Alfa Laval for such a multiple inlet system. Since the vessel’s engines have a combined rated output of 28 MW, this will be the largest marine scrubbing system ever sold. It can therefore be seen as a step forward in preparing the maritime transport industry for the stringent environmental requirements that will take effect from 2015.

  • Eekels relaunches MarPower from Exendis

    On 27 October 2011 the company called Exendis was put into liquidation. Exendis designed and developed converters for clients worldwide in the mobility, infrastructure, defence, renewable energy and agriculture markets. Alfen bv in Almere, a sister company of Eekels within the TBI concern, acquired a number of activities from Exendis after the company had gone into liquidation. Alfen took over products, employees and the intellectual property of products used in the rail market, defence, luxury yacht building and fast charge technology for electric cars. Eekels, for its part, acquired the luxury yachting activities from Alfen. More specifically, the shore converter and the energy storage converter systems, marketed using the brand name of MarPower.
  • Shipyard De Hoop lifts 500-ton SBBA onto the Smit Anambas

    In the first half of 2011, Shipyard De Hoop was approached by Global Marine Systems (formerly known as Cable and Wireless). The company wanted to convert the Smit Anambas, a chartered semi-submersible offshore transport barge (115m x 31.6m), into a cable lay pontoon. For a cable lay operation in the North Sea, it needed to accommodate a crew of 60. However, the Smit Anambas did not have suitable accommodation for so many people. Shipyard De Hoop was therefore requested to design and build a fully self-supporting 4-level accommodation unit.
  • Imtech Marine’s Venteville supplies new, environment friendly ballast water treatment system SiCure®

    Venteville, part of Imtech Marine, supplies systems for ballast water treatment and is agent for the new SiCure® system developed by Siemens Water Technologies. This is an environmentally friendly solution to prevent harmful foreign organisms from entering national waters via ballast water of ships. This ties in with the Ballast Water Treaty, which (in a phased manner and by 2016 at the latest) requires ships to have a system to purify water of harmful organisms. Since 2006 Venteville is part of Imtech Marine, global service provider and system integrator of tailor-made technological solutions for the maritime market. Development and supply of green technology concepts is one of the focal points in the strategy of Imtech Marine.

This means that we have now achieved our long-standing ambition of producing more than one kilometre of ships for this customer. De Hoop has been designing and building for Lueftner Cruises since 1996, and our collaboration has been marked by continuous innovation founded on a clear basic concept.

The currently in build 35.30m sailing yacht designed by Designer Frank Neubelt, and Dutch Studio Vripack needed to have a special dumbwaiter maximized to the given space without losing functionality. For this specific job the yard asked Lift Emotion BV a tailor-made system suitable on the given space.
  • Dutch shipbuilding companies leading in Fabulous 40 fastest growing industrial companies

    The Fabulous 40 Industrial Markets survey is the survey which charts the growth of companies active in the Industrial Markets segment in the Netherlands. The very first study for the fastest growing companies in this segment is a BlueMind initiative and is published in PT Industrial Management. The figures relate to the period 2007, 2008 and 2009 and are based on data which the companies themselves deposited with the Chamber of Commerce. In these years Shipyard De Hoop booked an average annual increase in total revenues of 64% and Veth Propulsion realized an increase in total revenues of 50%. A very good performance, considering the fact that 2008 and 2009 characterised the deepest recession for the Western world since the 1930’s.

  • Huisman delivers 17m super fly jib for BigLift Shipping’s “Happy Buccaneer”

    Last week, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, successfully completed the installation and load testing of a Huisman designed and built 17m super fly jib for one of the Heavy Lift Mast Cranes onboard BigLift Shipping’s “Happy Buccaneer”. The super fly jib increases the lifting height and outreach of the crane by 50% to respectively 59m above deck and 55m radius.
  • Green Award and MeteoGroup Maritime Join Forces

    The Green Award Foundation and MeteoGroup Maritime have signed an agreement to work together to incentivise ship owners with high safety and environmental standards and to eliminate substandard shipping from the world’s oceans. Green Award Managing Director Jan Fransen and MeteoGroup Maritime CEO Peter Stoter signed the agreement in December 2011.
