  • Lift Emotion BV and Delta Marine's project Invader

    Lift Emotion BV is excited to announce that they have been granted the contract to build the elevators for Delta’s 66 meter project Invader. Lift Emotion has worked with Delta on three other projects and the combination of good cooperation and a demand for the highest quality resulted into the next project.
  • Compact, Concise, Comprehensive: GL launches Pocket Guide for MLC 2006

    With a sweeping reach and wide ranging application the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) will have a significant impact on shipowners, managers, crewing agencies and most importantly the seafarers on-board. At its entry into force the MLC 2006 will alter some 37 ILO conventions and require the certification of over 55,000 seagoing vessels. Preparing for this sea change will require a massive adjustment. To support the maritime industry in this endeavour Germanischer Lloyd (GL) has developed an easy to use Pocket Guide on the MLC 2006.

    IHC Merwede, the leading global maritime, engineering and manufacturing group, has appointed Denis Welch as its CEO for South East Asia. He will be responsible for helping the company to reinforce its regional identity and expand its Asian-centred operations – which are focussed on its offshore and marine activities.
  • Successful Sea Acceptance Trials of the Second Multi Mission Frigate for the Royal Moroccan Navy

    The 98 meters long SIGMA class frigate, the second frigate built by Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding for the Royal Moroccan Navy, left Vlissingen on the 18th of November for her sea acceptance trials (SAT) in the North Sea, right on schedule as agreed in the contract. During the SAT, a very intensive program will be carried out in which the platform as well as the sensor weapons and communications suite are extensively tested. The tests are performed by representatives of the yard in close cooperation with representatives of the subcontractors, the Royal Moroccan navy and the Royal Netherlands Navy.
  • Aquatech Award 2011 for fish-friendly pump of Pentair Nijhuis

    The Fish-friendly pump of Pentair Nijhuis is the overall winner of the Aquatech Innovation Award 2011. This was announced durung the official opening ceremony of the watertechnology trade fair Aquatech and the International Water Week in Amsterdam. In the presence of Dutch state secretary Joop Atsma and 40 national delegations, the chairman of the jury Cees Buisman handed out the ward for the most innovative product at the trade fair.

The site has been structured according to Damen’s 10 Product-Market Combinations and navigation has been designed to be fast, simple and user-friendly. The new website aims to personalize content, enable infosharing and enhance client interaction.
  • IHC Merwede secures new orders worth € 200 million

    IHC Merwede is pleased to announce that it has recently secured orders for advanced vessels and equipment in its core markets of dredging and offshore to the value of €200million. The latest agreements confirmed by IHC Merwede include: a new pipelaying vessel for Subsea 7; an engineering and components package for the build of a trailing suction hopper dredger with BAE Systems (USA); an environmentally friendly deep-water dredger for Zheijang Dredging (China); and a 5,000-tonne capacity carousel-lay system for Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. These orders further reinforce the group’s belief that there will be continued demand for its innovative vessels, advanced equipment and life-cycle support in the future.
  • IHC Merwede to build innovative new IHC Beaver® 4040 for Zhejiang Dredging

    IHC Merwede has been awarded a contract to deliver the environmentally friendly deep-water dredger, IHC Beaver® 4040, for Zhejiang Dredging (China). This innovative cutter suction dredger will be optimised to work on lake and reservoir dredging projects – and is unique in its class.
  • Dutch Prime Minister Rutte visits Damen Shipyards Gorinchem

    On Tuesday, November 22nd, Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited Damen Shipyards’ Head Office in Gorinchem (The Netherlands). The visit was motivated by Mr Rutte’s wish to stay continuously informed of current and future developments in the Dutch industry, especially the shipbuilding industry and the Dutch maritime cluster.

  • IHC Lagersmit acquires ATEX 95 certificate for its LIQUIDYNE pump shaft seal

    IHC Lagersmit, part of IHC Merwede, has acquired the ATEX 95 registration for its LIQUIDYNE pump shaft seal. This registration signifies compliance with the European guidelines, which must be met in order for equipment to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
  • Wärtsilä Inland Water Ways (IWW) further strengthen its position
    01 November 2011
    The Wärtsilä Inland Water Ways business made new strong steps forwards for its business by selling the propulsion workshop in Duisburg and Mannheim to Koedood Propulsion GmbH, a daughter organization of the Dutch based Koedood Dieselservice. In October both parties signed an APA (Asset Purchase Agreement) being effective as of November 1 2011.
